29 years with the Canadian Red Cross (experience in following fields of work: overseas personnel, disaster /emergency management, international operations, prevention & safety & people services/human resources)
In her current role, Louise is tasked with retaining successes from current and past volunteer engagement practices and reimagine new ideas and strategies to improve the volunteer experience within the CRC
Disaster Response experience ranges from house fire response to international conflicts.
Ice Storm 1998, 9/11, SARS, Peterborough Floods, South-East Asia Tsunami response, numerous northern Ontario evacuations (forest fires & floods), H1N1 Response, Hurricane Sandy response with American Red Cross, Alberta Floods 2013, Syrian Refugee Arrivals in 2015, several social emergencies in Northern Ontario, Asylum Seekers & Central and Eastern Ontario Floods in 2017.
International Committee of the Red Cross:
Peer-to-peer case study with the Afghanistan Red Crescent Society in 2011 – Review of the National Society‘s policies, procedures and practices related to the safety of personnel in the delivery of services in a complex conflict environment
Mission to Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire) in 1994 – Tracing Delegate (reuniting unaccompanied children with family, setting up the tracing program in Goma for 35,000 unaccompanied children & 1 million refugees)
